Using Advanced Searching

Advanced searching takes on this basic form: keyword:your search criteria value.

For example, from:kavita or to:rcatmur (Name or myid)

You can also use logical operators AND, NOT, OR, <, >, =, and so forth to refine your search, and these are noted in the table. Logical operators must be typed in uppercase letters.

Outlook supports advanced searching right from the search bar. You can easily add many search filters from here, such as "from", "subject", when it was received and does the email contain an attachment.

Highlighted Examples of Advanced Searches

Other relative values:
  • Relative dates: today, tomorrow, yesterday
  • Multi-word relative dates: this week, next month, last week, past month, coming year
  • Days: Sunday, Monday ... Saturday
  • Months: January, February ... December
has:flagEmails that have been flagged for follow-up. Useful when using ugamail.uga.edu.
